Day 2: DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA – DAMBULLA (160km – 3.5 hrs)
Take on the road after a delectable breakfast for a day steeped in Sri Lanka's rich history. The fifth-century stronghold of Sigiriya, which is perched atop a rock that soars dramatically about 200 meters above the rainforest, is a great place to start. At the peak of this enormous boulder known as the "Lion Rock," King Kashyapa constructed this castle. Until the British discovered it and started a laborious archaeological investigation, it had been the innermost stronghold of a vast fortified city. Over time, however, it had been neglected and abandoned, buried in thick undergrowth. Today's ruins of this once-vibrant city give a tantalizing hint as to what once stood here. Reach the summit to take in the mesmerizing panoramas of the idyllic setting. Explore the well-preserved ruins of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa in the afternoon. It was constructed about 1,000 years ago and includes a sizable man-made lake that feeds a system of irrigation canals, the ruins of a royal palace, as well as many temples and administrative structures. Enjoy the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, the monument of King Parakramabahu, and the Gal Viharaya with its four mesmerizing Buddha sculptures. Before going back to your accommodation, take in the views of the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, and the Galpotha. Dambulla overnight stays are based on a chosen board.

Day 3: DAMBULLA – MATALE – KANDY (90km – 2 hrs)
Visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla for a spiritual start to the day. Discover this 2,000-year-old holy shrine carved deep inside a mountain. More than 150 images of the Lord Buddha, as well as other deities and Sri Lankan kings, may be seen in this magnificent complex of five caverns, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex also comprises hundreds of meters of painted walls and ceilings. Visit the spice and herb garden in Matale after that. Spices from Sri Lanka, including turmeric, nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, and lemongrass, are regarded as some of the best in the world. Enjoy a revitalizing cup of herbal tea while learning about the medicinal benefits of various spices and techniques! Next, travel to Kandy and stop by the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, Enthusiastic gardeners, the Brits provided them with a framework and introduced a variety of plants and flowers, resulting in the fragrant spices and blooming fields of orchids that may be seen today. Even a tree that was planted in 1901 by King George and Queen Mary exists. Enjoy a dramatic cultural performance in the evening that includes 12 folk and traditional dances and is accompanied by a drum ensemble and ceremonial drums. You'll be on the edge of your seat as a sizzling fire-walking act takes the stage. Kandy's overnight stay is based on a board selection.

Day 4: KANDY – COLOMBO (115km – 2.5 hrs)
Fantastic Kandy is known for its stunning lakeside setting surrounded by lovely hills. After breakfast, pay a visit to the exquisite Temple of the Holy Tooth Relic and be amazed by its beauty. The most sacred of all Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka, this magnificent edifice was constructed in the 16th century solely to hold a canine tooth relic of the Lord Buddha. The fragrant fluids that the monks use to perform the weekly ritual cleaning of the tooth relic are revered. Other noteworthy sites include the sanctuary, the Golden Canopy, the New Palace, the Royal Palace, the old courthouse, the Queen's Bathing House, and the National Museum. See the stunning architecture in peace and take in the atmosphere's serenity. Travel on to Colombo for an afternoon city tour. The contrast between Colombo and the rest of the country is breathtaking. Colombo is vibrant, busy, and colorful. In these historic colonial-era neighborhoods close to the port, skyscrapers are sprouting up, but the old-world beauty of this modern metropolis never fades. See some of the wealthier residential sections of the city where you can find gorgeous mansions and majestic homes as well as the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Center.
